Mainstreaming of disability inclusion, participation, and partnerships
- [8 April 2020] The government has prepared a COVID-19 Response Framework worth US$20 million to develop quarantine facilities, provide infection control training, and increase ventilators and testing capacity. The goals of the framework include the protection of high-risk people, such as persons with disabilities.
- [4 August 2020] The Department of Health and Social Affairs has issued COVID-19 guidelines with considerations for persons with disabilities.
Medical and quarantine policies and processes
- [25 July 2020] The Quarantine Site team of the State of Kosrae has installed a ramp in front of the briefing area, facilitating the movement of repatriating residents with physical disabilities.
Social protection and employment support
- [December 2020] One-off payments of $500 have been prepared for eligible low-income households, with additional benefits for households of persons with disabilities.
- [18 February 2021] The Department of Finance & Administration has started preparing a new social protection programme for the vulnerable, as a response to COVID-19, which would include targeted assistance to persons with disabilities such as temporary waivers of certain medical expenses and electricity subsidies.
