Mainstreaming of disability inclusion, participation, and partnerships

• [20 April 2020] The government has been encouraging a “Kindness and Support” Nationwide Movement, highlighting supporting vulnerable groups in communities.

Continued access to goods and services

• [18 April 2020] In Kanlykul District of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 422 unoccupied residents have been involved in public work such as agricultural projects and disinfection work. They have also been engaged in looking after lonely older persons, persons with disabilities and those in need.
• [14 April 2020] An online competition jointly organized by several ministries and agencies has been launched to find innovative tools and solutions for mitigating the consequences of COVID-19. The education theme involves distance learning for persons with disabilities.
• [24 April 2020] 2,809 unemployed citizens of Tashkent City have been involved in temporary paid public work. Among them, 207 people have been engaged in care work for older persons, persons with disabilities and others in need. Similar public work has been conducted in several other regions.

Accessible public information 

• [3 December 2020] The UNDP has partnered with UzReport TV to ensure that all the government’s COVID-19 briefings are accompanied by sign language interpretation services.

Medical and quarantine policies and processes 

• [24 March 2021] Persons with disabilities have been prioritized in the first stage of vaccine roll-out.

Social protection and employment support

• [n.d.] Examples of new working arrangements include allowing employees, particularly pregnant women, older persons, and persons with disabilities, to use distance-working methods with flexible working hours.
• [3 April 2020] The Center for Coordinating Sponsorship Activities has been established to provide charitable assistance, such as food and medicine, for families in need and persons with disabilities. According to a decree signed by the president, lonely older persons and persons with disabilities would be offered basic food and hygiene items free of charge during the quarantine period.
• [10 July 2020] There has been a simplified system for issuing documents on temporary disabilities.
• [30 July 2020] Disability-related benefits have been increased.
