Mainstreaming of disability inclusion, participation, and partnerships
- [10 April 2020] The Stakeholder Engagement Plan of Solomon Islands COVID-19 Response includes vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities as stakeholders.
- [10 April 2020] In the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan, measures have been introduced to ensure that disadvantaged and vulnerable groups would have equal access to development benefits resulting from the COVID-19 Emergency Response Project.
- [4 September 2020] The Health Promotion Department of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services has reviewed the COVID-19 Risk Communications Strategy with partners, including People With Disability Solomon Islands.
Continued access to goods and services
- [August 2020] The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development has created a COVID-19 Inclusive Education Materials package for children with disabilities and their parents. Teachers from disability schools and the selected mainstream school in Honiara have been trained on COVID-19 issues.
Accessible public information
- [n.d.] The Prime Minister has been accompanied by a sign language interpreter in press briefings on COVID-19.
- [13 August 2020] The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has supported the initiatives of People with Disability Solomon Islands to raise awareness of COVID-19 among persons with disabilities. A training session would help volunteers and staff of the organization to spread information on COVID-19 in various institutions across provinces.
