Government responses

Mainstreaming of disability inclusion, participation, and partnerships

• [27 August 2020] The Cambodian Disabled People’s Organization has held a meeting with government officials and persons with disabilities, discussing challenges faced by persons with disabilities during the pandemic and solutions to their problems.
• [August 2020] The United Nations has laid out plans to work with the Cambodian government to survey persons with disabilities on the impact of COVID-19.
• [October 2020] Australia and Cambodia have been working together on a COVID-19 Development Response Plan which places emphasis on including persons with disabilities.

Continued access to goods and services 

• [n.d.] The All Children Reading Cambodia project has worked with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to create accessible online resources for children with disabilities, to help them and their families implement home schooling.

Accessible public information

• [16 April 2020] Cambodian sign language interpreters of the Maryknoll Deaf Development Programme have provided interpretation in educational videos created by the Cambodian government. Additionally, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and WHO, sign language interpreters have helped to create a video that specifically addresses the needs of the deaf population.
• [13 July 2020] Australian Aid has been working with the Cambodian government to ensure that persons with disabilities have accessible information on COVID-19.

Social protection and employment support

• [n.d.] In response to the pandemic, the government has launched a new monthly cash transfer programme for poor and vulnerable households.
• [1 June 2020] The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has mobilized an aid programme for the Music Association of the Disabled, including KHR1,220,000, 500 kg rice and other food items.
• [27 August 2020] The government has offered social protection, such as cash transfers and provisions, to persons with disabilities holding an IDPoor Card.
