Mrs. Maulani Agustiah Rotinsulu, Chairperson, Indonesian Association of Women with Disabilities, Jakarta, Indonesia

 

Ms. Maulani Rotinsulu is one of Indonesia’s leading disability rights experts with almost 30 years of experience in the assessment, design, management and monitoring of international disability rights advocacy programs. Mrs. Rotinsulu has also longstanding experience in capacity building of civil society organizations and is actively involved in numerous national, regional and international disability rights committees, advising the Ministry of Social Affairs since 2008.

Ms. Rotinsulu helped found the Indonesian Association of Women with Disabilities in 1998 and served as its Executive Secretary. She is also one of the founders of the political rights of persons with disabilities movement in Indonesia, working with United Nations agencies, the government and civil society organizations.

In 2006, Ms. Rotinsulu was appointed to the position of Executive Director of the Center of Ability Rehabilitation Effort in Jakarta, facilitating access to government services for 250 persons with disabilities, including children with severe disabilities. On the same year, she was also appointed Executive Director of the Indonesian Disabled People’s Association (PPCI), where she focused on strengthening relationships with the government as well as building the organization’s capacity at the local and sub district levels.

Ms. Rotinsulu is currently a Steering Committee member of the ASEAN Disability Forum, advising on the ratification process for the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
